Time goes by.....

Spot the difference between the 2 photos...ok lah, different angles. More importantly, 5 minutes time difference. That`s the time I wasted / spent taking the photo. That`s 5 minutes of my life I ain`t getting back. Do you ever wonder how you`ll feel when you`re 60 and begin to look back at your life ? Any regrets you think you`ll have then which you can correct now ? I have no regrets being without kids . Even as I speak, my neighbour`s son is acting up again. They`ve been arguing hysterically for the past 1 hour & it`s still going strong. Doors are a-slamming, the shouting in mandarin is gettng louder. I`ve seen enough in my lifetime to want to stay childless by choice. Queer As Folk calls people who have kids ` Breeders`....i think that`s a bit cruel. I do not judge folks who want to have kids. In return, please do not judge me as well. There`s a saying: People who have kids & people who do not have kids pity each other. True ? I dunno...I just want to live my life.

Scratch the pic on your screen to smell the roses....

You think technology will be so canggih in future for that to happen ? Let`s hope not, can`t imagine seeing Malaysia`s toilet photos and being a victim of that kinda technology. I used to buy a Grade A red rose every Monday for my office table. With some care & lotsa sugar, it can last the whole week. I stopped it when the cleaner broke my vase. She just scurried off & pleaded innocence. Sheesh. Anyway, these mini roses are from the highlands. You can ALMOST smell them can`t you ?

Rocks of Gibraltar...mebbe not

We plant crazy people sometimes have a wicked sense of humour. I plant this succulent ( related to cactus but without thorns )among stones & pebbles and make it look like it`s just a display of rocks. Can you spot my plants ?

Gospel-pop........

My current fav singer....it ain`t exactly a new cd coz I bought this like 6 months ago but i`ve put the cd on the backburner until John Legend appeared live on the Grammy`s the other day. I was blown away by his rendition of `Ordinary People`. The voice, the diction, the semi-raw sounding raspy vocals. It`s incredible but if you can appreciate gospel tinged songs, you`ll like almost all the 15 tracks. My fav artiste for year 2005. ( Sorry lah Jamie Cullum, your new cd was kinda bland ) Anyone wants a copy ? Just let me know.

Cocktails anyone ?

This was my best buy from Langkawi. Mix this with some 100 Plus & ice cubes and it automatically becomes the best drink for a hot day, even beats good ol` fashion lemonade. I kid you not. RM30. Don`t worry, I ain`t becoming an alcoholic just yet.

Don`t look back.....something may be gaining on you

I`ve just finished watching Desperate Housewives Season 2 Part 1. Phew. Good 10 episodes. 2 thots which came thru` the series that I`ll adopt:

1. The goal is to learn, not to judge
2. Look past the fighting, pain & resentment & be reminded that there is nothing more important than family & friendships

The simple life.....

This week was kind of a rough week for me. I had some issues with 2 good friends and we have been cold shouldering each other. The thing is I was the one who instigated the arguments & hence I recover a lot faster than them. I always feel justified to voice my dissatisfactions after a while of keeping quiet. I`m always for good ol` fashioned honesty. I also value friends but it looks like the emotion is not reciprocated. I keep telling myself to treat people the way they treat me but I can never bring myself to be so cold or rude or unreliable or pretentious to my friends no matter how i am treated by them. Sigh. I`m gonna try again though. The issues :
1. telling me they`ll do something but not meaning it ( just tell me you won`t do it )
2. giving me short one word negative replies without any explanations (we`re friends not strangers, i deserve a reason, however short )
3. just plain avoiding or making me feel invisible and then pretending that things are fine
4. just keeping quiet about your own personal life but keep asking questions about mine
5. keeping mum about everything & i have to find out things via other friends or other people`s blog ( i hate having to ask friends about things, just offer the info plse ) 6. plain pretence or `make dunno`
To save myself some hardship & future pain, I will have to start treating people the way they treat me. So don`t be surprised if I become as cold, as pretentious, as rude as you are. If I do, you probably deserve it. *Cheers*

Mummies.....from Egypt

Last sunday afternoon, I had the telly on while I wuz reading the papers. This Taiwanese programme wuz on. It wuz some adventure thingy & this week`s episode featured Mummies from Egpt. blah blah blah ( can`t understand mandarin y`see )...then something caught my attention. Inside the caskets of the richer ones, there were carvings/ pics/ paintings which depicted the person`s life when he / she wuz still alive. It was interesting to see them decipher the symbols & pics. One mummified chappie was a teacher of sorts in his life & had 2 kids & loved hiking. Things like that. I wonder what would be inscribed in mine if i wuz a fella living in Egypt then ? Mmmm....i think it will be adorned with symbols of fuschia ( my fav flower ), lotsa carnivorous plants, pics of pals, a dog, a hill near Tmn melawati where i love to hike, probably a river symbolising sg chiling....and the insides will be lightly scented with vanilla parfum`, my fav. Sigh. On 2nd thots, erm, skip the casket thingy, i`m claustrophobic !

Zinnia`s...

A good friend wuz accompanying to do some hardware shopping at ACE when we chanced upon some flower seeds. One which caught our eye wuz a packet of Zinnia`s. Here`s a Zin-nia for you, courtesy of my garden. Btw, it comes in an array of colours & are very lasting. They are as colourful as you are. I`ll plant them for you in your garden if you ever move back to KL. Cheers !

Valentine`s.......

I only got up at 10 a.m. on Valentine`s Day. Received 2 sms` from friends who were sweet enuff to make the effort. I then proceeded to send quite a few greetings out. While I can relate to the sentiments behind Valentine`s Day, I cannot relate to the crass commercialisation of it. For me, a simple dinner at any old gerai will do as long as it is with someone special. Cheers !

The day before Valentine`s day....

Had to clear some leave so took off on Valentine`s & the day before it. Had no plans intially but ended up accompanying a good friend to run errands on monday. We met up at 9 a.m. at bkt jalil. B`fast. Roti telor near Plaza Masalam in shah alam while trying to locate our actual destination, Plaza perangsang. mana ? shah alam is surprisingly dead quiet on a monday almost to lunch time. We were wondering whether we were actually in a town which has city status. where is everybodeeee ?
Our journey then took us to subang jaya. then we decided to have lunch at this place near bangi ` nasi briyani gam`.....wah, sedapnya! A bit hot the eating conditions so we ordered air bandung with extra ice to cool us down. I finally got to try the makan place i`ve been eye-ing everytime i go to Alamanda. It`s location is somewhere opposite Hospital Serdang. Recommended if you crave for nasi briyani but i think the gerai near jln tun hs lee in kl is better.
After lunch: putrajaya - mid Valley - Campbell complex - Sogo - puduraya bus station to send my friend off. bus left at 9:30 p.m. for penang.
Bye bye.
We managed to catch a movie `Keeping Mum` which featured Rowan Atkinson among others. A lovely simple British comedy which tickled the funny bone with its intelligence & subtle plots & scintillating script. Nice. Rowan wasn`t playing Mr Bean so it was a nice change. That fella can act lah. It was a lovely day before Valentine`s.

Looks like.....

I`ve tried to take a picture of this flower from different angles. This was the best. The colours are showy & these plants are incredible coz their flowers lasts for 6 months...a record for the plant kingdom. They seem to bloom continuously in my garden. See the small one coming up from the back ? That`s a new baby one saying Hi! to the world.

Smelling like summer....

I`ve had about 1 month to try out these 2 new perfumes which I got from Langkawi. By virtue of them being limited edition Summer versions, they smell a lot lighter than the usual ones. I think I prefer stronger smelling sportier ones like Polo Sport. Mmmm....btw, it`s CK Summer & davidoff coolwater DEEP: sea, scents & sun. I miss my Bodyshop vanilla perfume. Miss smelling like freshly baked cakes. Haha. Gonna get that next.

Arachnophobia.....

I saw this spider scurrying around my bathroom 3 weeks ago. When I turned around to grab a bottle to snare it, it disappeared. Then I saw it again yesterday. This time I managed to catch it. It looks very much like a Black Widow spider, notorious for deaths in homes across America. What`s it doing in my house ? Eeeee....

indoor garden feature....

We had to wait for our bus at Kuala Perlis on the way home from Langkawi. As it wuz hot & I had chocolates to protect from melting, we dashed into a Marrybrown outlet. Other than the normal food, they also had this device to sit on. It was surreal...it had 6 of this contraptions & there wuz also a jukebox. Who said Kuala Perlis had no culture ?

Really big Earrings ?

The current hot spell has caused an eruption of sorts in my garden. These pair of airplants have chosen the hot weather to bloom. Don`t they look ornamental ? They are quite useful during the Christmas season if u run out of decorations for the tree. Sudah bloom, then they will have more off-shoots, then they bloom again.

sounds like heaven......

After shopping around for a bit last week, i finally settled 4 this JVC micro hifi. It only plays CD and has digital amplifiers to enhance the sound. Cool or not ? I need it for my home aerobics sessions. Confession time. :o)

blooming orchids.....

these orchids took more than a year to bloom but it was worth it ! has a sweet fragrance which attracts insects and humans alike. *smile*

the most relaxing place in Langkawi.....

had to climb for 30 minutes on the man-made stairs to reach what i deem as the most serene & relaxing spot in the whole of Langkawi island....nice yah ? It`s Telaga 7 or the legendary Seven Wells where fairies used to come to bathe. Ooo.

see if u can see....

try to spot the hidden giraffes. i`m not kidding. it`s in the picture somewhere. i counted 5.....

Langkawi.....

How is everyone ? i`ve survived Christmas, New Year & Chinese new Year....what`s next ? uh oh...Valentine`s ! anyways, here are some photos from a recent Langkawi trip. my only wish when i wuz there was to go on the cable car. I did & it was magnificent. Enjoy....
