Lotsa weddings..........

Got a last minute invite to a wedding last weekend. It was on Saturday & I got the invite on Fri morning. Mmmmmm....anyways, since I only had some errands to run, I decided to go. On Sunday, I had to be a chauffeur for another friend`s wedding. It was a first for me, quite nice as it was a close friend. Here are some photos. The car photo is the one I drove, yeah, it`s all about me.

SLAM it like an old barn door

The people who sit in my car & slam my doors when they close it has reached an intolerable level. I cringe EVERYTIME someone whams it, mostly women I`m afraid. When I posted it on an international RAV4 community website, I got 18 responses. Here are the some them :

think it depends on a few things. Among those: the type of women, how they treat you, and sometimes the knowledge or lack thereof of mechanical objects. My Gfreinds know what the very few things that I treat as precious (one is my RAV baby) and make and effort to treat them good. But when we get cleaning ladies in the home (another precious item) that’s another story. Some are good, others drag buckets, bang pots and pans, smash objects into my custom doors and moldings. At least you told them how you felt… Now go find a few more sensitive Women this time

Toyota probably has 2 setting on their testing machine. 1. Toyota owners 2. Non Toyota owners

EVERY time we take my wifes grandmother somewhere - BANG - she slams the door.... The only solution I have come up with is to "help" her in and out of the car - no more slamming....... and I look like a nice guy......._________________Keep on RAVin.....

Door-slamming: one of the things that get my blood boiling. Our neighbor and friend across the street (a guy, by the way) insists on putting all his muscle into slamming my room-mate's little Civic's passenger door every time. The car literally shudders. No way is he ever riding in my RAV4! You'd think these people drive old clunkers whose door latches don't hold judging from the way they wack the car doors.

And my bf calls me crazy for treating my baby the way i do. He and everyone else i know like to slam/close hard the doors because they're used to their cars which you need to put a little more force to close their doors. They all say that my car is weird cuz you don't really need too much to close the doors, and it really hurts me whenever i hear the doors closing too hard. I think it's hurting my baby . Besides, isn't slamming/closing-hard-unnecessarily bad for the door gaskets, that by doing that too often they could wear out? Please someone enlighten me

Most cars are engineered to withstand this type of abuse. However, anything in excess could accelerate wear on almost anything. My friends and family know better not to slam my doors. The only exception is my wife. She's the only one allowed to slam my doors.

It gets worse if you have a window open. With the windows closed at least there is an air cushion to absorb some of the blow

I learned not to slam car doors while I was up north in the winter. Among other things, plastic gets brittle in extreme cold. Nothing like slamming the door on a -50C/-58F morning and having the door handle break off in your hand. Never been able to train my wife, though. She usually gives it a slam.

Hah... for those of you that don't know what I do for a living... I spend anywhere from 4 to 6 hours per night sitting in a new Toyota (a different one every 4 minutes ) having the doors opened and closed. It's funny... but I've noticed that it's (in most cases) the OLDER coworkers that SLAM the doors the hardest Maybe it's because they are more used to OLDER vehicles from "back in the day" that required a good SLAM to get them to shut tight Whenever someone slams one too hard (in my opinion)... I yell back at them if they could please get me a rag. They ask what the rag is for... I explain that I need to wipe the blood from my ears It only takes once or twice of this process before they lighten up on the slamming. Occasionaly this process doesn't work at all... as it causes them to slam them even harder

For me it's a women thing. My wife, sister & 90 year old mother seem to need to slam the doors like it's an old barn door. My wife thinks I am thoughtful, helping her,and my mother out of the door. Truth is I can nicely close the door. They even slam house doors???I have seen women take their foot and kick the door closed,or take their butts, and ram it closed. Seen a few guys slam their doors, but usually in a bent up clunker. Most people nowdays just don't give a $hit about what they own,and want to raise %#*& when things get broken by their abuse, and it's allways the products fault. Just a general lack of respect for theirs, and others property.

Now that I think about it. I remember seeing that the little black rubber stopper on my front passenger door was missing. Guess who always shuts that door.

WHEW!!!.....I'm not alone!!! My wife knows better, but my 86 year old mother and my sister are door slammers!!! My sister claims it's because she's used to the big doors on her Sunfire convertible.......I think she's just plain used to any domestic...... Peeves!!!.....and another thing!!! I can't trust my mother to look for car movements nearby, she'll just open the door without looking.........that's why she finds the child locks always on!!! ......and an old peeve: Some of you can still remember hardtops, they had no window frames on the doors. Some ppl would always close them by pushing the glass......GAWD!!! I hated that.... Thanks for letting me vent.....I feel better already!!!!

Guess it`s a well-known fact that women especially really old ones are door slammers. These people need to be disciplined & are not welcomed in my car anymore.

Fishes from Aquafair 2006.........

These fishes look so lonely. The odd looking arowana is actually born with a conjoined twin which is still alive. It is kept that way to amuse folks, very cruel to the one which is upside down. Sad......

Pontianak alert..........

A malay friend asked me to get this from Sg buloh 2 weeks ago. It`s bunga harum sundal malam & supposed to attract ghostly figures at nite when the flower fragrance is the strongest. It`s gonna bloom anytime now & if I manage to get any photos of pontianaks, I`ll post them here.

My fav aquarium setup.................

This aquarium is the perfect size & just exudes peace. Love the plants & cardinal tetras.....this was one of the better exhibits at Aquafair 2006.

A lovely wedding......

She got married....................finally ! Heheh. After months of planning, it finally came to fruition. The venue was ostenatious enough...Corus Hotel, Ampang. The food was lovely. There was Australian wine...Jacob`s Creek i think she mentioned. Some folks at my table put an ice cube into their glass of wine.....to a wine afficionado like me, that`s pretty sacrilegious...but well, folks will be folks. I loved the music, so many old familiar tunes. Licia, a copy of the cd plse !

Loved the rose petals on the table. Loved the choc mints......

A scary ride..............

Believe or not, I`ve never used the monorail......guess I`ve never had the occasion to as whenever I`m in KL, I`m driving. Last Saturday was different. I went to Berjaya TS with friends after parking at Kelana LRT station & hitching a ride from him. After lunch & a bowling session, I had to leave early & took public transportation. The monorail ride was scary. I recommend folks who`ve never been up to get a seat as standing up while the train swerves 100 feet up is a lil` nerve wrecking....

Almond flavoured

It was a semi-hot weekend so I thot it was apt that I made this cooling almond jelly. Only takes 35 minutes, I ended up finishing the whole thing myself as there wuz nobody else in the house on Sunday.

Wanted....................

tricks with the new handphone.........Chico is difficult to capture on camera as he moves a lot. He`s been having some stomach problems lately. Even after I changed his diet, he has not improved much. Once a week on average, he won`t be able to eat coz there are noxious gases build-up in his tiny stomach.

I`ll probably have to bring him to the vet.

He`s the same age as my car..........from year 1997.

RAV4 Concept vehicle

Awesome or not...........

KLCC

A lovely sunny day in KL..... lotsa tourist buses stop by this section facing KLCC. Everytime we go for lunch at KLCC, there`ll be either Japanese, Chinese, Taiwanese or American tourist snapping photos. Today we saw about 20 Indian folks there but no tourist buses were in sight. Looks like they were hardworking enuff ( or cheap !) to walk from who-knows-where.

Laziest mountain in the world.....Everest

Camera phones works!......wuz driving along jln chan sow lin when I saw four 2-tier trailers parked by the roadside. Each had about 10 Fort Everests on them....all marked for Jabatan Pertanian Malaysia. Gosh, those lucky blokes.

Cinnamon snacks

Tea time today. While eating them I notice that the size of the buns have decreased & it`s not as nice as before. They have lost me as their customer.
