I usually don`t get many CNY cards. This was a cute one....

Ms E from the office gave us this very addictive choc balls from Australia...I ate about 20 I think & felt so good ! Chocolates are indeed mood lifters. Or mebbe I just enjoyed the cocoa.

I`m quite proud of my Sony ericsson phone`s camera sometimes...heheh...With a steady hand, the photos can actually come out quite nice. This was taken 1 min away from home on a rainy evening. Hopefully it`ll continue to be like this, this week. Love cool nites.

But rains & sunny skies alternating always cause quickie puddles to be formed & the mozzies tend to breed very quickly in this period. I was kept up on monday morn` by their incessant buzzing & bites. Zzzzz....

The silver lining.............

When the day gets weary & things don`t make sense, look for the proverbial light at the end of the proverbial tunnel.

Sunny skies don`t always appear but if you wait long enough & have enough patience, it will appear.

I watched 2 movies last week: Dreamgirls & Babel.

The first one got more nominations than the 2nd but Dreamgils was dead boring. Jennifer Hudson`s acting wasn`t really acting as she was merely being herself ( flashback to AI, same character ). Her delivery of 2 songs was pretty good though. Beyonce didn`t stand a chance vocally but Beyonce being Beyonce was a treat for sore eyes whereas Jennifer would give you sore eyes. I know it`s unfair but if you want to make it in Hollywood, you`ll have to conform to the their standards. Mebbe slim down a lil` ? Jennifer`s curves were more like huge dune hills in the desert. Her tummy was huge. My rating for the movie out of 10 would be 5.5

Babel was a surprise.....it was understated acting, no power acting. Just a potrayal of life as we see it. Brad Pitt was good. He kinda reminded me of the good ol` days when he first started in the industry like in the movie A River Runs Through It. It had a PG rating & with it came a male masturbating scene, a nude scene & the Jap actress lifting up her skirt when she wasn`t wearing panties. The censorship board has improved but yes, F-words were still censored. My rating : 7.5

Show dogs...............

My aunt`s 2nd generation of kids got their new outfits for CNY as well. They don`t seem to mind wearing the shirts so I guess it isn`t cruel. Heheh....

Reunion dinner makan-2......

My auntie surprised us this year by having a very healthy steamboat dinner for our reunion gathering. The cool weather helped to make it tolerable. Strange that it would rain during CNY but hey, I ain`t complaining. For once, there were no sweats while visiting my relatives. Here are some pics of the seafood, duck, etc we had. All pork-free delights.

The only new thing I bought for CNY.............

I shopped last minute for this at IOI Mall...yeah, what a glam place. Was actually there to look for some small mandarin oranges, they are much sweeter than the regular type but it was all sold out. So I went to Bata to see if they had any nice shoes....and wah laa, I found this nice semi leather one for rm69.99..............pleased as plum. Excuse the background for the photo, it was taken at my aunt`s house among her old boxes & stuff.

I have 3 pots of this airplant in my garden....2 of them ore shotting blooms at the moment, just rite for the CNY period when visitors swing by.....it looks kinda dainty with flower coming out of the left & right side of the flower bract.

UH in the early morning.....

My Dad went for his eye surgery 2 weeks ago & we had to do follow up visits after that. UH is pretty well organised if you come early. Trying to steer a semi-blind man is not easy as i still had to park the car almost 200 metres away. From the amount of people waiting at the clinics, I was beginning to wonder how expensive medical costs were at private clinics. We reached UH at 7 a.m. & by about 10:30 a.m., we were done with the checks & obtaining medication. Until the next round of checks that is.....

Mentally..........

I`m mentally preparing myself for CNY when I`ll have to visit relatives in the afternoon when the sun is a-blazing. Hopefully I get to choose when to visit, which will be at nite. Afternoons are usually spent at home, under the cool shelter of my tree, plants, water urns & house. Nothing could be better.

I sometimes get heat rash after coming back from outdoor activities. The last one I remember was when I had to go for a fren`s church open day at Bkt Jalil area. After 30 mins under the afternoon sun ( my parents took the car out in the morning hence I was under house arrest until then ), I started feeling very uncomfortable. Yuks. So I sauid a quick Hi to her & made a fast exit.

Just around the corner........

With CNY just around the corner, people are buying stuff like there`s no tomorrow. We don`t really celebrate any festivals much but friends & relative do come over. So usually we just buy drinks & some snacks. This year I`m just focusing on chocolate chip cookies & scrumptious pineapple tarts.

My Dad justy went for his eye operation on Friday so he`s going to be out of action for about a month while the eye heals. They scrapped off the cataracts & inplanted a lense. Vision should be restored within a month latest. Should be interesting for him to chat with visitors while wearing the eye patch. He`s already complaining it`s so ugly & makes him look `piraty`.

Small change...........

During the weekend, I decided to use cash when I went shopping....so it was $$$ at Tesco, Guardian, cafe`s......then I ran out of cash in my wallet. The nearest ATM had like about 20 folks Q-ing up so I decided that I`ll just stay home after that....

While ironing my jeans, I found rm5 in its pockets. Another pair of pants yielded rm24. Coins were found under my car seat. heheh. It reminded me of an episode of that British reality show `How clean is your house`. One lady who had a really dirty house also had cash strewn all over the place. At the end of the episode, they actually found USD3,500....

Gray`s anatomy....

Saw this book at Popular the other day & it made me impatient to catch the latest episode of Grey`s Anatomy.......it`s good but has the 8:30p.m. slot so kinda difficult to catch always. Love the characters there, the humor, the play on words & the sexual innuendos.....

Ace hardware..............

Thx to Ace hardware &b their paint sale, I managed to paint my room at a discount of 50%. I told meself that I wasn`t going to be fussy about the colour so I`m now sleeping in a semi-dark blue room. I know dark colours are supposed to seemingly make a small room appear even smaller but well, like I said, not much choice. I don`t mind it...here are some pics before the rest of the furniture gets back in.... it looks lighter here.
